Licensing of Businesses Bill to set norms

Licensing to be streamlined…

A draft Bill, the Licensing of Businesses Bill, is now in the public domain for comment before being tabled in Parliament. The minister of trade and industry, Rob Davies said it would be tabled with Parliament as soon as possible and public comment was to be  with the department of trade and industry (DTI) before mid April. No doubt there will be parliamentary public hearings.

Norms and standards to be set

In its preamble, the Bill says it sets out to create a more “simple and enabling framework for procedures for application of business licences by setting national norm and standards”.

By this, DTI says, it hopes to provide a framework for co-operative governance and harmonisation of standard procedures and minimum, requirements for application of business licences.
